Between the World Wars, Harlem became renowned for its creative endeavours with many artists emerging and gaining prominence.

In recent years, Harlem has shaken off post-war deprivations and is once again a thriving area of New York, with fantastic restaurants serving a variety of classic Southern foods, Caribbean fare and a good mix of Asian and European cooking.
