The New York Yankees is a major league baseball team that has been based out of New York for the last 106 years. The team has won a total of 27 World Series championships and 40 American League titles to date, which is more than any other contemporary baseball team has achieved.
The New York Yankees are one of the most followed baseball teams in MLB and their rivalry with the Boston Red Sox is arguably the most ferocious in American sporting history. Up until the 2008 season, all home 
matches for the team were played out in the old Yankees stadium. The venue then shifted to the new Yankees stadium from the 2009 season. The new Yankees stadium saw them clinching their record 27th World Series title.
