Amtrak Route to/from NYC
There are several routes from around the U.S. which lead you direct into Manhattan.
The Acela Express for example runs part way down the Eastern Seaboard whilst the NorthEast Regional takes you Massachusetts and Newport News (Virginia Beach). There are roughly 15 main line services from Manhattan and all can be found in detail on the Amtrak website.

Pennsylvania Station (normally shortened and known as Penn Station) is the central base in NYC for the major train routes into the area. Located in Manhattan between 31st and 33rd Streets. Thousands of travellers' first point of arrival into the city is Penn Station 
and its central location means a fairly short can ride for most people, to their hotel or vacation apartment in NYC.
