New York City is served by one of the most complex, reliable and efficient commuter systems in the world. Visitors to the city can have their pick from many different transportation options available throughout the city. They can choose to use New York’s famous subway, or take a taxicab, bus or rental car. The fares of local transport services are not very expensive and visitors can also obtain day passes.
Train and Subway in NYC
Travelling by train is one of the best ways of getting around New York. New York’s subway has stations all over the city and it is possible for visitors to take the subway
train from any point of origin to any destination in the city. The subway, coupled with a little legwork, is by far the best way of getting around New York. Once you get to your station, you can either walk to your destination or take a cab there. Many of the city’s famous museums, parks and tourist spots are located within walking distance of each other.
New York Buses and Taxis
A number of efficient bus companies also serve New York City. Like the subway, it is possible for visitors to get to and from any point in the city by bus. New York is also home to the world famous Yellow Cab taxi company. These taxis can be hailed right off the street and they can also be reserved and ordered by telephone at any given time of the day.
NYC Car Rental
Travellers can also rent vehicles from many car rental establishments located throughout the city. Information on the city’s subway and bus lines can be obtained from information booths at the airport, subway stations and bus company offices.
